UIU named Military Friendly Top 10 Gold School

Upper Iowa University (UIU) has been named a Military Friendly® Top 10 Gold School Award recipient in the private university, not offering a doctorate, category for 2022-23. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

UIU President William R. Duffy II

“Upper Iowa is especially proud to offer a wide variety of educational opportunities to our nation’s servicemen and -women, veterans, and their families,” UIU President William R. Since the Civil War and Upper Iowa’s Company C, Upper Iowa has always had a link with the military. A lot of WWII vets came on campus and became the “greatest generation”. After graduating from UIU, I received the nicest letter from Academic Dean Charles Clark ( Lt.Col USMCR-ret). while I was in Boot Camp. I have treasured that letter and his letters when I became Academic Dean in 1991. The connection with the military is as old as the university.
