Knight Endowed Scholarship recipient announced

Upper Iowa University (UIU) has awarded the Carlton W. Knight and Maxine B. Knight Endowed Scholarship to 2020 Starmont High School graduate Connor Boardman.

Connor Boardman, the son of Ron and Joan Boardman of Arlington, Iowa, is currently majoring in criminal justice at UIU. While attending Starmont, Connor participated in student council, speech, school play, football, basketball, baseball and track.

The Knight Endowed Scholarship pays tribute to Carlton W. Knight and Maxine B. Knight, proprietors of the former Knight Hardware, located on Fayette’s main street from 1900-1965. The scholarship was created by Carlton and Maxine’s son, Dr. Kip Knight, class of 1962, and wife Eileen, and stipulates that the award shall be provided to financially assist deserving individuals from within the customer base or “trade area” served by the family-owned and operated Knight’s Hardware.
