Alumnus receives award during Field Sciences presentation
Hunter Slifka ’18, Turkey River Headwater Chihak Creek Water Quality Project coordinator in the Howard County Soil and Water Conservation District, received a surprise visit during his field science presentation at Upper Iowa University’s Fayette Campus Tuesday, September 14. Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship staff members Will Myers (left) and Matt McDonald awarded Slifka (center) with the 2021 Outstanding Watershed Project in Iowa at the program attended by UIU faculty, staff and students.
Weather permitting, the Field Sciences Speaker/Activity Series resumes with a volunteer event at the UIU natural areas Wednesday, September 22. Persons interested in participating should meet outside of Baker Hebron 101.
The remaining scheduled activities are as follows:
Monday, September 27: Alumni guest speaker PJ Grine ’15, Cross Ranch State Park/North Dakota Parks and Recreation park ranger, 2:15-3:15 p.m., Baker Hebron 101.
Wednesday, October 6: UIU Internship Fair, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Student Center Ballrooms.
