The Butter Peacock was officially unveiled Thursday, August 8, at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. The Butter Peacock will be joined by faculty, staff and alumni who operate UIU’s information booth each fair day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Varied Industries Building. The public is invited to see the Butter Peacock, learn more about UIU, register for free tuition and classes, and purchase Peacock apparel and merchandise. Alumni may also stop by and update their contact information to receive a free gift.
The Butter Peacock was sculpted by UIU associate professor of art Elissa Wenthe and senior art education major Meghan Kleitsch.
Iowa Live host Lou Sipolt interviewed UIU vice president for external affairs Andrew Wenthe at the Iowa State Fair Friday, Aug 9. Iowa Live airs on CW Iowa 23 in the Des Moines metro area. The video can be viewed on the UIU Facebook page.
