Team Peacock survives another RAGBRAI

After pedaling for approximately 430 miles, Upper Iowa University Team Peacock members are reflecting on another recently completed Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). For the 15th year, Team Peacock riders served as ambassadors for the University and once again fostered newfound friendships, memories and awareness for UIU.
Since 2005, Team Peacock has raised more than $1.4 million to benefit UIU students and programming. The list of scholarships and other projects and/or programs sponsored by this year’s team included: UIU Annual Fund and various scholarships, the beneficiaries from this year’s fundraising effort will include a Military Family Fund, UIU Cabby Dean’s Fund – Sand Volleyball Courts, UIU Wrestling, UIU Recreation Center, UIU Mock Trial, School of Business Firth Dean’s Fund, UIU Track and Field, and UIU Athletic Training Education Program.
RAGBRAI 2019 began in Council Bluffs on Sunday, July 21. Overnight stops took place in Atlantic, Winterset, Indianola, Centerville, Fairfield and Burlington. As is a RAGBRAI tradition, the bicycle tires were dipped in the Mississippi River this year in Keokuk on Saturday, July 27.
