Giving Day 2019 begins April 11

Founded in 1857, through the act of philanthropy by Elizabeth Alexander and her family, Upper Iowa University has always treasured the gift of giving. Students, alumni and friends will have 1,857 minutes Thursday, April 11 – Friday, April 12, to continue this tradition during the third annual UIU Giving Day.

As part of Giving Day 2019, UIU will incorporate a number of interesting, fun challenges that will be unveiled as the “Treasure the Gift of Giving” event approaches. Challenges raise the stakes, because as they are completed, they often unlock major matching gifts from generous UIU donors. Challenges are in some cases based on participation rather than the size of the gift; thus, a small donation has just as much impact as a larger one in beating the challenge and unlocking a large matching gift.

Event organizers suggest there are three ways people can show their support for UIU during Giving Day 2019 − follow the UIU Alumni & Friends Facebook page and other UIU social media to receive regular updates on the progress of individual challenges, share favorite UIU photos via social media by using the hashtag #UIUGivingDay, and make a gift of your choice before the event concludes at 5:57 p.m. Friday, April 12.
