Alumni and friends invited on 2020 Grand Canyon rafting excursion
Upper Iowa University invites alumni and all friends of UIU on the 2020 Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting Excursion in May or June of 2020. Participating thrill-seekers will enjoy relaxing and soaking up the majestic views of the Canyon.
For up to 12 days, participating Peacocks will travel nearly 200 miles on motorized, rubber boats and camp each night along the winding Colorado River in the Arizona and Grand Canyon corridor. They will enjoy fishing, hiking, swimming and lots of free time to explore along the way. Guests will receive the royal treatment – everything from steak dinners and pork chops to hot breakfasts, water, tea and juice. Camping is made simple with all the items you’ll need – dry bags, sheets, sleeping bags, a pillow, carabiners, souvenir hatch mug, eating utensils, three-person tent (for every two people), camping cot and chairs. A packing list will be provided to all those who register.
The outfitter provides licensed and experienced guides, life jackets, camping gear, waterproof duffel bags and amazing meals along the way. Trip costs include seven days of whitewater rafting necessities, every meal while on the river and the tip for the guides. Hotel accommodations are included at Cliff Dwellers Lodge near Marble Canyon, Arizona. Those participating in the pre- and post-rafting National Park tour will pay park admission fees and camping/hotel accommodations, as part of the package price. Food during the National Parks tour and other meals off the river are not included in the fees.
