NFV grad awarded Kauten Endowed Scholarship

Upper Iowa University has awarded the Ralph Kauten Endowed Scholarship to 2015 North Fayette Valley (NFV) graduate Alison Leuchtenmacher. The scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming freshman from the West Central or North Fayette Valley school districts. It is renewable if the student continues to maintain the academic criteria.

While attending NFV, Leuchtenmacher participated in SODA (Students Okay without Drugs and Alcohol), National Honor Society and Student Council. Alison, the daughter of Dave and Deb Leuchtenmacher of Elgin, is currently involved with UIU Honors Program. The Upper Iowa freshman plans to pursue a law career.

A graduate of West Central High School in Maynard, Iowa, Ralph Kauten attended Upper Iowa University in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. A Madison, Wis., businessman, he and his wife, Erica, established the scholarship as a way to give back to the institution and to recognize the value of assisting young people obtain their college degrees.
