Upper Iowa University receives Students Before Profits award from Nonprofit Colleges Online; ranked 25th

FAYETTE, Iowa (January 9, 2015) – Upper Iowa University is ranked 25th in the first annual Students Before Profits Nonprofit Colleges Online ranking of the top 50 schools for online bachelor’s of business degree programs. The Students Before Profits award was created to promote nonprofit colleges and universities offering online degree programs that put students before profits and education before the bottom line.

Graduates of Upper Iowa University’s bachelor’s in business administration gain a comprehensive business background appropriate for any business career or further graduate study. Alumni have found employment in a wide variety of companies and specializations, including but not limited to: marketing, finance, international business and management. UIU offers two kinds of distance education programs – a traditional interactive online degree program and a self-paced program.

Dr. B.J. Whitesell, dean of the UIU business school, said, “The business world continues to change at a rapid pace. By earning a degree, Upper Iowa students propel themselves forward in their careers, as well as stand out in their professions. They are meeting the challenges of business readily and excel in their careers. Online education is an important resource for those who are working to finish their degree or for traditional college students looking to enhance their learning experience by combining online coursework with the face-to-face classroom experience.”

Barb Schultz, assistant vice president for the UIU Center for Distance Education, echoed Whitesell by saying, “Most of our online students are working adults who are balancing the demands of career and family while trying to finish their degree, but we also recognize a growing number of undergraduate students who augment their college education with online classes. The flexibility of our distance learning programs make it possible for students to complete their work at any time of the day.”

Nonprofitcolleges.com rankings were designed to help prospective students make a smart choice about where to invest their time and money in earning their online degree. Schools and programs were evaluated based on publicly available information about accreditation, academic quality, student satisfaction, reputation in the field, and cost.
