Upper Iowa University’s Career Development ready to serve
FAYETTE, Iowa (November 13, 2014) – Upper Iowa University’s Office of Career Development is looking to build upon its recent success and asks employers and alumni to reach out for their employment needs. October 1, Career Development hosted its first annual career fair on the Fayette campus networking with approximately 40 employers and over 400 students and alumni. As a result, several students received offers for internships, and up-and-coming UIU graduates landed their first job!
Individual successes shared with director Hope Trainor keeps her smiling and ready to grow the capabilities of the Career Development office. “We were very pleased with the turnout and the response from the employers and students attending the career fair,” she said. “Our mission is to provide career-related assistance and programs to our students and alumni. We do this by networking with employers from across the world. We know Upper Iowa University graduates are poised to compete in the job market with their peers. They are prepared to stand out in their careers, and we want to provide them with every opportunity to do so.”
The Office of Career Development offers career assistance and programs through flexible delivery systems. These include general career guidance, choosing a major, resume and cover letter advice, internship and job search, interview preparation, professional networking and branding, applying to graduate school and more.
