In honor of Dr. Lew Churbuck

Professor Emeritus Dr. Lew Churbuck ’67, passed away June 9. He had been an associate biology professor serving UIU from 1970 until his retirement in 2007. His initiatives led to advances in the science department, and he established the conservation management major in 1974. He also served the University as director of admissions, international student adviser, director of campus operations, division chair for the science department and chair of the faculty senate. He received an honorary doctorate from UIU in 2005. He is estimated to have taught more than 10,000 UIU students.  He is survived by his wife, Milly.
