NEIA High School Art Show April 11

Upper Iowa University will host the Northeast Iowa High School Art Show Wednesday, April 11, in the Student Center ballrooms at Fayette Campus. The exhibit is open to the public from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Student Center Ballroom C, with awards to be presented at noon.

“Upper Iowa has been involved in the Northeast Iowa High School Art Show for over 30 years and we are once again expecting a great group of talented young artists to be displaying their best works in a variety of medium,” UIU Assistant Professor of Art Laura Gleissner said.

The art entries will include drawings, ceramics, printmaking, sculptures, digital media, photography and painting. Judging the 2018 event will be former UIU Art Professor of Art and Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, John Siblik. Siblik currently serves as director of the School of Art at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

Gleissner noted that current UIU art and graphic design students will conduct demonstrations for the high school students at the Peacock Arts and Athletic Building (PAAC) as part of the day’s activities. The art show will conclude with juror remarks and the much anticipated award ceremony. More than 31 area high schools were invited to participate in this year’s exhibition.
