School of Liberal Arts to host pianist

Northeast Iowa native Ben Hippen will perform at the Fayette Opera House, located at the corner of Main and Clark streets in Fayette on Friday, April 6. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert scheduled to follow at 7 p.m.

A composer, arranger and pianist, Hippen put the finishing touches on his third album in New York City in December 2017.  The artist’s music walks the line between the appeal of pop music and the challenging complexity of classical music. Now living in Decorah, Hippen said he is committed to “writing and performing music that backs an immediate emotional appeal with a careful compositional technique that rewards repeated listening.”
