Novelist to hold public reading

Novelist Rachel Marie-Crane Williams will hold a free public reading at Upper Iowa University (UIU) on Thursday, February 23. The UIU Writing Center-sponsored event will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Liberal Arts auditorium at UIU’s Fayette Campus.

Williams is an artist and associate professor at the University of Iowa. She holds a joint appointment between the university’s School of Art and Art History (Intermedia) and Gender Women’s and Sexuality Studies. Her current projects include a graphic novel about the Detroit race riots of 1943, a mini comic about police brutality and The Prison Chronicles, a series of stories about working in prisons.

Williams will take questions from the audience following the February 23 public reading. The UIU Liberal Arts building is located north of Dorman Memorial Gymnasium at Fayette Campus.
