College transfer students get new benefit
Upper Iowa University announced today (Tuesday, January 17) that it is significantly lowering in-state tuition rates for transfer students to its Fayette, Iowa, Campus beginning in August 2017. The private nonprofit college established in 1857 will provide admitted transfer students with a tuition rate of $9,600 at its Fayette Campus.
UIU plans to become the most transfer friendly college in Iowa. The board of trustees voted unanimously to lower in-state tuition and fees at their most recent meeting, which means qualifying students will receive the benefits of a premier private education at a price that is comparable to a four-year public university. This new in-state transfer program also ensures that transfer students will now have access to the same kind of substantial aid that UIU freshmen benefit from to offset the cost of their education.
“The new transfer tuition rate will allow students to benefit from small class sizes, direct faculty advising, flexible class schedules, and other student-centered programs that distinguish UIU from large institutions,” Vice President for Enrollment Management Kathy Franken said.
The new tuition rate will apply to transfer students who have completed at least 48 transferable credits and who have resided in Iowa or are currently attending an Iowa institution of higher education. Transfer students who do not meet this eligibility criteria are eligible to receive a UIU transfer merit scholarship or grant, in addition to other scholarships, grants or financial aid.
The University is a recognized pioneer in how it delivers education to its students, and that all starts with an innovative academic model; each term is broken into two 8-week modules, meaning most students need only take two classes at a time. UIU also offers all of the modern benefits you would expect from on-campus living, including apartment-style and suite-style housing. As the only Division II institution in Iowa, and with countless student life events, activities, and opportunities, transfer students will become immediately engaged in UIU’s community. U.S. News & World Report, Military Times, and many others have also recognized Upper Iowa University as a top choice among colleges and universities in Iowa.
“UIU’s Fayette Campus provides an exceptional education, beautiful setting, comfortable living, and safe community,” Franken said.
Those individuals who are interested in learning more about this new affordable tuition rate should contact the UIU Office of Admissions at 563-425-5281, where UIU’s helpful admissions counselors and academic advisers will answer your questions and make your transfer process easy to understand and complete.
