CAP agreement with Bertch Cabinet

Bertch Cabinet Mfg., Inc. employees and their family members will soon benefit from a new partnership with Upper Iowa University (UIU). As Corporate Advantage Program (CAP) partners, the company’s employee members, their spouses and dependent children (under the age of 26) are now eligible to receive set tuition discounts for courses taken at any of Upper Iowa’s 25 U.S. educational centers or through UIU distance education programs. The application fee is also waived for all eligible participants.=

“We are very pleased that Upper Iowa University and Bertch Cabinet are working together in this most recent CAP partnership,” said Jill Hansen, UIU-Waterloo Center director.  “Both institutions have a long history and tradition, and by working with Bertch employees and their families we will be able to help them achieve their educational goals.”

Based in Waterloo, Iowa, Bertch Cabinet Mfg., Inc. has been family owned and operated for 40 years. With over 750,000 sq. ft. of modern manufacturing space and an experienced workforce of 800-plus associates, the company’s products reflect a commitment to reforestation, recycling and a general respect for the environment.

This education benefit to employees and their families to help them achieve their educational goals is an example of Bertch’s commitment to its workers and surrounding community. Dedicated to making a difference, the company has previously contributed to a large variety of community and charitable events, including American Cancer Society, Black Hawk County Youth Shelter, Cedar Valley Hospice, Special Olympics Iowa, and Earth Day presentations at area schools.

Meanwhile, UIU strives to meet student needs with convenient daytime, evening, and weekend classes. Upper Iowa’s unique academic year consists of six 8-week terms. Students usually take two courses most terms and still graduate on schedule. Online classes can also be added to allow a student to aggressively work toward a degree. Many students blend their degree plan by taking hybrid (both face-to-face and online) courses.

Other students get a jump on completion by easily transferring in up to 90 college credits from other schools. Up to 12 credits can also be transferred at the graduate level. Credits may also be earned through an individual’s work experience, an experiential learning portfolio or various college examinations.

In addition to its Fayette Campus and Waterloo Center locations, Upper Iowa has 25 locations, including academic centers in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and the Quad Cities. For additional information about Upper Iowa University, visit uiu.edu or call 800-553-4150.
