School of Liberal Arts to host concert

In commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Los Llaneros will perform in concert at the Fayette Opera House, located at the corner of Main and Clark streets in Fayette on Saturday, Sept. 17. Sponsored by Upper Iowa University’s School of Liberal Arts and Center for International Education, the free, public event is funded in part by the John and Honorine Falb Family Performance Grant. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m.

Founded in 1978, Los Llaneros play music of the Colombian and Venezuelan Llanos (plains) on a variety of instruments, including the harp and the four-stringed cuatro. Founding member Karin Stein serves as the ensemble’s main vocalist and leader. Other performers include Edgar East, Daniel Rojas, and Diego Mosquera.
