More user-friendly website launched

In an ongoing effort to maintain compatibility across the digital landscape, Upper Iowa University has announced the launch of its redesigned website. Online visitors, including prospective students, are discovering a friendlier, easier-to-navigate Upper Iowa University webpage at www.uiu.edu. The revamped website has been launched following a year-long initiative guided by an interdisciplinary web advisory committee.

“Our goal is to make it easier for prospective students to quickly find information focused on their personal choice for a UIU learning experience. Consequently, the design lets prospective students quickly select ‘campus,’ ‘online’ or ‘location’ as the primary entry point to the information they need the most in making a college decision,” said Andrew Wenthe, UIU vice president for external affairs. “In addition, the website changes make the site mobile-friendly and more ADA compatible.

“The previous redesign of the website occurred in the winter of 2010, and web- based technology has changed tremendously in six years,” he added. “Smart phones, for example, were just beginning to be used but now some 20 percent of the access to the UIU website comes from mobile devices — with a 12 percent increase in the number of visits by mobile device in the past year.”

Other website users also will find easy access points from the UIU home page. Content will continue to be enhanced and updated as UIU changes and technology advances.
