Fulbright student alumni ambassador at UIU Thursday

Fulbright student alumni ambassador Jacob Vidourek will host a Fullbright U.S. Student Program Workshop at Upper Iowa University Thursday, Nov. 19. The program will be held from 3-4 p.m. in Student Center Ballroom C on the Fayette campus.

A Cincinnati, Ohio, native, Vidourek graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in music performance and German in 2010. As a recipient of the Fulbright/AAEC Combined Grant to Austria, he spent the 2010-2012 academic years in Vienna. While there, he taught English and worked on a research project analyzing the construction and development of the Viennese Oboe. He presented parts of his research findings at the Altenmarkt Seminar.

As part of his experience, Vidourek also performed among a European-wide collaboration of Fulbright musicians for the German Fulbright Commission’s annual conference in Berlin in 2011. In 2014, he graduated with a Master of Arts in German from the University of Oklahoma. He currently teaches introductory German courses at Xavier University in Cincinnati.

All undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to attend the Thursday, Nov. 19, presentation and learn about fully funded grants for studying, researching, or assisting in teaching English abroad. The public is also welcome to attend the event. Refreshments will be provided. The free presentation is sponsored by the Fulbright Grant.
