Dakaboom to perform Nov. 9

Upper Iowa University will welcome Dakaboom to the Fayette campus on Monday, Nov. 9. Described only as postmodern vaudeville, Dakaboom is a music/comedy with ties to the east and west coasts. Longtime best friends Ben McLain and Paul Peglar utilize a cappella, loop stations, stand-up comedy, sketches, crowd interaction and several musical genres to create a world all their own – and everyone’s invited.
Residing in Los Angeles, Ben McLain pursues his passion of producing alternative electronic and pop music. With the electronic vocal band, Sonos (now ARORA), he performed on season three of NBC’s “The Sing Off.” He has also made appearances on “General Hospital.”
Actor/musician Paul Peglar has worked extensively with internet stars (Chester See, Lana McKissack, The Kloons) and was the original piano player on the first season of Fox television’s “Glee.” After three summers as music director of TASIS (The American School in Switzerland), he moved to New York and resides in Brooklyn. Paul is also a member of the international band, The Haze.
The Nov. 9 performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the UIU Student Center ballrooms. The public is welcome to attend the free event. For additional information, call Amy Tucker, UIU director of student activities, at 563-425-5311.
