UIU to celebrate ‘Feathers Up Forever’ Homecoming
Upper Iowa University will proudly display “Feathers Up Forever” as the Peacock family salutes its rich history and traditions during Homecoming Week 2015. Following the UIU Men’s soccer match against Fort Hays State at 2 p.m., the festivities begin with the pep rally, bonfire, and coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8. The Homecoming celebration will continue through Sunday, Oct. 11.
Student activities actually kick off Monday, Oct. 5, and continue throughout the week. Among the student events are the BTQ Fashion Show, Rough Tough Volleyball, and flag football.
The UIU School of Science and Mathematics will host the Student Research Project Showcase from 1-2:30 p.m. in Baker-Hebron and Colgrove-Walker Hall on Friday, Oct. 9.
Beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, tours of the historic President’s home will provide visitors a final glimpse of the structure’s interior before renovations get underway. Over $100,000 in private funding has been donated to the project thus far.
While observing nearly 160 years of history, the University will officially unveil the Foster Cass Archives Walk and exhibits during a reception from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Following a brief program at 2:30 p.m. in the University Archives, located on the lower level of the Henderson-Wilder Library, guided tours of the Foster Cass Archives Walk will be available.
The annual President’s Ball is scheduled to follow at 6 p.m. The formal event serves as the University’s premiere fundraising event in directly benefitting students. The “Feathers Up Forever” Homecoming Parade will make its way down Main Street in Fayette at 10 a.m. Alumni are invited to attend the morning mixer from 9 – 11 a.m. at Cabo Blue Bar & Grill.
Alumni are also reminded of the 50-Year Reunion Class & Heritage Society Luncheon (honoring the UIU Class of 1965 and all members of UIU’s Heritage Society) from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom on Friday, Oct. 9.
Meanwhile, the “Landscape: Upper Iowa University Through the Ages” Homecoming Alumni Art Reception is scheduled for 2:30 – 4 p.m. in the Bing-Davis Art Gallery. In addition, the Alumni Awards & Honor Class Brunch (honoring the classes of ’45, ’55, ’65, ’75, ’90 and ’05) will be held from 10 a.m. – noon in the Student Center Ballroom on Sunday, Oct. 11.

- The Class of 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame members will be inducted during the Hall of Fame Banquet at noon in the Student Center Ballroom. The honorees are as follows:
