Vaudeville comes to UIU
Lindsay Benner will bring her unique vaudeville show, featuring juggling, acting, and comedy, to Upper Iowa University on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Inspired by classic vaudeville and golden-era comedy, Benner has spent her life working to perfect the art of making people happy. The entertainer’s one-woman show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the UIU Student Center Ballroom on the Fayette Campus.
The Sept. 16 event is part of the 2015 UIU Fine Arts Series, which is a collaboration of the Upper Iowa University School of Liberal Arts, Art Department, and Office of Students Activities. The remaining schedule includes:
Wednesday, Sept. 30 – Infusing elements of hip hop, theatre, improve and comedy into spoken-word poetry, Mayhem Poets will perform at 7 p.m. in the UIU Student Center Ballroom.
Thursday, Oct. 1 – “Landscape: Upper Iowa University Through the Ages” will feature the works of various artists. The Fine Arts Series exhibit will be open from 2:30-4 p.m. at Bing-Davis Art Gallery in the UIU Edgar Fine Arts Hall. The Landscape exhibit will remain open through Friday, Oct. 30.
Saturday, Oct. 3 – Featuring folk-inspired chamber music set to a collection of silent films, Red Cedar Chamber Music will perform at 7 p.m. in the Fayette Opera House. This event is sponsored by the UIU School of Liberal Arts.
Each of the featured performances or exhibits are free and open to the public.
