Support services for women to be discussed

Addiction, sexual assault and sex trafficking will be among the featured topics of discussion at the Upper Iowa University Student Center Ballroom on Thursday, Sept. 17. The public event will be held from 6-9 p.m. on the Fayette Campus.

Guest speaker Becca Stevens and other representatives from Thistle Farms will discuss the support services provided by the organization to women in surviving addiction, sex trafficking and prostitution.  Thistle Farms is a social enterprise, which offers job training, therapy, and education to women recovering and healing from abuses.

Co-sponsors for the Sept. 17 event include UIU’s Counseling and Wellness Services, UIU Student Activities, and the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA)–through Zion Lutheran Church in West Union.
