Faculty member’s patent approved

An Upper Iowa University Online adjunct faculty member in the School of Science and Math was recently awarded a patent with Texas Instruments. Jeff H. Sanford of Howe, Texas, has actually been awarded eight different patent award disclosures and internal awards with Texas Instruments.

Sanford’s latest patent award, “Database Extraction & Conversion to Fab Map Application,” took approximately four months to complete from the conceptualization stage to its first implementation.

The Texas Instruments Corporate Patent Committee and a technical patent committee first reviewed and rated the invention’s use before awarding the patent to Sanford. The patent application, review, and approval process took approximately two months to complete. According to a Texas Instrument official, patent cases are typically reviewed when received and again after three, seven and 11 years.
